Anyone who loves birds and birdwatching should include a two day stay at Hacienda Chichen,
during their trip Yucatan, Mexico. With its own Bird Refuge and Maya
Jungle Reserve, the hotel is a secluded paradise a mist the magestic
Mayan temples of Chichen Itza.
Hacienda Chichen gardens are the perfect refuge for wildlife and
to observe nature; impressive lush towering trees, many planted over
100 years ago, house many wild birds and kinkajous among other
species. A true sanctuary of nature and a bird haven,
the property sustains over
150 bird species.
A perfect place for nature lovers; specially those that enjoy the
beauty and sounds of colorful birds such as the Altamira Oriole,
Scarlet Tanager, Yucatan Jay, Yellow-faced Grassquit, Keel-billed
Tucan or the great Laughing Falcon as they build their nests within yards of the
guest bungalows.
Come
and enjoy the ever present singing melodies of hundred of birds. The hotel
rents Audubon binoculars for guests by hours. We recommend you book
the Maya Nature Tour guided by our own Mayan birding guides.
One of the greatest joys, for professional or amateur birders, is
the grace and beautiful elegance of a Toh bird calmingly resting on
a perch. An unusual sighting even in the Yucatan, but fairly common
at Hacienda Chichen's lush jungle gardens and nature paths.
From October to May, the gardens are at the peak of their bird
population, with migratory birds nesting in many of garden's robust
trees. At Hacienda Chichen many other wildlife residents will keep
you busy observing their uniqueness and beauty.
