Hacienda Chichen Resort & Yaxkin Spa Water Resources
"Land and water management in the Yucatan Peninsula is fragmented, and is often ineffective in the face of pressure to develop the tourism and recreational industry. Researchers conclude that without integrated approaches to protecting and managing the aquifer, ”the tourism-based economy of Yucatan” will not be sustainable over the medium to long term.”
H. Van Lavieren & Lisa Benedetti
United Nations University article in “Health & Water”

Because we at Hacienda Chichen Resorts are aware of this reality, all possible measurements have been taken to conserve and protect our natural fresh water supply and aquatic ecosystem. Hacienda Chichen maintains a strict protocol to protect the hotel’s underground fresh water wells from pollutants and other damaging agents. We monitor our water sources' purity levels and perform in depth pluming system check-ups to reduce water waste. A water filter has been installed to ensure in-house pure water supply to all areas, but we understand guests feel safer consuming bottled water and do serve it if requested, at a charge.
